Main purpose of having office is doing office works and most of them are being done with computers connected to network. So, when a company is making a new office, IT infrastructure setup should be considered as a primary element, but many of interior projects are missing it.
Office designing agencies which are proficient for installing beautiful team workplaces will easily assign networking infrastructure installation work to a cabling company who just proceeds ordered tasks only. This won't be a problem if your company has a internal IT specialist and can make that one to participate in the project, but quite a lot of new office projects are missing this support. In this situation, neither designing agency or cabling company will try to spend time to analyze your computer workplace demand and will install only the least level of network elements in your office. Unless your business really doesn't require much of IT infrastructure, your company have to waste significant amount of budget to replace existing cables or install missing elements. (or keep loosing work performance.)
Two IT elements I selected below are the most critical infrastructures which are hard to install after interior work finished. Check and apply them to the project before late.
Server room
It is desirable to place a small room for server & network equipment because they produces high volume of noise and heat. People easily think server machines are not required in the office anymore because they will use cloud services. It's somewhat true and we don't need to buy so many servers these days, but still quite a lot of our computing requirements are not fully covered by cloud service. Real world computing situations would demand servers below in the office.
- Backup server
- File server
- Local application server
Even if you succeeded to work without any server, LAN switches are enough noisy to be placed separately from work area.

High quality network cable
Most of our wired Ethernet devices are capable of 1Gbps speed which requires category 6 cable link. This is not a new technology, but surprisingly many of cabling companies are still bringing category 5 cables to new office area because category 6 cable costs more and it takes more installation time. (Not a big increase at all.) So, you should demand this cable type clearly and make it documented.
Along with cable type, order more LAN outlet throughout all of the office to fully cover device connections of current and future workspace. As well as printer device, Wireless network access point (antenna) also requires cable link. It won't be a problem to have useless LAN cable in a wall, but not having a necessary cable is certainly a trouble.
